Taraji P. Henson as Janiyah Wiltkinson is a powerhouse in this.
I also loved Teyana Taylor as Detective Raymond. The connection she forged and the viewpoint she took as an officer
Sherri Shepherd as Nicole, the branch manager in this, like all the other actresses moved from tender to volatile and back again, with believable arcs that fit in around perfectly with the central characters story.
The big reveal didn’t seem gimmicky to me. Given the main character’s daily momentum, this just seems like a day full of inertia — I won’t say more than that.
The fact that this was filmed in four days, in between Taraji filming another film makes her and this movie even more amazing.
I saw some people complaining that it wasn’t subtle, but it did what it wanted and meant to do, so why does that matter? If your emotions don’t get engaged, perhaps you are just disconnected from how real this scene is.
