An Open Door (2023) Directed by John Barnhardt

I didn’t now anything about Temple Grandin until I watched the Clare Danes film. That film was great for me, being able to see Danes without her usual mannerisms, which Homeland had started to make wear on me a bit.

Seeing the real person talking, and having the broad strokes refined is very rewarding. Temple is a very different kind of genius, and I don’t mean because of her autism.

To know when she came up and the odds that she navigated her way around, and the transition she made from an inexperienced person with ideas, to a person who was out ahead of the pack — a thought leader.

To have such a vision — one that allows you to envisage a whole system designed around keeping animals safe and in a less stressful environment is amazing. To then be able to look at the way in which you think, and to understand that it is different to how everybody else thinks, and to be able to communicate that to people is amazing.

I am going to check out her books, especially Visual Thinking.
