This is an interesting hybrid. The splash image I saw for it with Samantha Morton sold me on it before I read anything about it.
As two individual movies, or companion pieces, I think they would work well. As something supposedly fused together, they don’t really hold as a unified thing.
To be honest, the fiction part isn’t given enough room to breathe, and if you had an actress less charismatic than Samantha Morton, you wouldn’t be interested in it.
The documentary parts connects some dots I haven’t seen connected before, and makes some interesting points. It makes enough interesting points that I’d like to see them expanded upon — a series even.
I think you should watch this patchy effort for the parts which you will definitely find interesting.
