Film Hick: Spiderman (2002)

\"Spiderman-Poster-USA\"

I think this film stands the test of time well. I haven\’t watched it recently, but I think the same is true of the immediate sequel. The third one? That kind of flopped majorly for me … there were just some choices that were made which I think made little sense in terms of the tone of the movie and in terms of any Spiderman movie.

With the reboot, which I will say I haven\’t yet seen – yeah, I know, right? I have picked up on some revisionist attitudes to this original trilogy, and it is weird how that initial excitement, and the ways in which Raimi totally delivered on that promise, seems to have been forgotten. And likewise, how did Tobey MacGuire become such an object of scorn?

I kind of prefer this to Christopher Nolan\’s Batman. I like the first one Batman Begins, and the 2nd movie is growing on me, but I don\’t think either of them got the spirit of their character nailed quite as well as this movie did with its cast.

This version is entertaining, brings some interesting twists to the table, the action, story, and emotional backbone all cohere into a very good movie.
