What do I want from this documentary? I want something that offers an insight into Salinger. What do I not want? Something salacious. What I am kind of expecting is something that sits astride both of those ideas. If one were to really expect a documentary to be even vaguely capable of answering all the questions about the reclusive writer one would be setting themselves up for disappointment. But I remain hopeful.
