I think I found Fernando Chamarelli using stumbleupon to browse Flickr so it was one of those wonderful fortuitous moments that occasionally lead us somewhere that we are going to enjoy visiting many times.
His profile describes the influence of Brazilian and Pre-Columbian art upon his work but as well as seeing that I see many touchstones with other traditions — you can see the geometric shapes of Klimt; there are pieces which made me think of Russian folk art; Picasso; Surrealism. The language he speaks in is most definitely his own though and it is a poetic tongue. Every time that I see an upload on Flickr I rush over to check it out and find myself unable to come up with superlatives adequate to the task of capturing how great I think the work is.
