I know that as soon as I sit down to write this rant, no matter how many times I look at it there will be a typo that is going to make me look like an arsehole. That aside though, I would just like to say, that if you are putting out your first issue of a magazine you should make damned sure that you look at every punctuation mark and every bit of grammar. Well, you practice that kind of attention to detail if you actually care about the product. If you think that you make mistakes because you are typing it straight into a word processor or straight into a browser window then print it out — check over it the old fashioned way. There should not be mistakes in headlines and by-lines — the body of a text is somewhat excusable, but for god\’s sake, if you have something that is five times the size of the normal text on a page and you can\’t see an error then you need to go to your opticians.Something extra for online people: if you include a link to another site please check that the link is active. If you are building a web page think about how much text you are cramming into a certain space — think about what colour text you have on what colour background. There are a lot of simple errors that can be avoided with just a little bit of attention to detail. Re-read, re-read and then re-read again. If you care you\’ll do it!
