I was there for the Kickstarter on the first book, but couldn’t get the funds together for the second one. So I had to get it once it was out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I loved King City, <\/em>and Graham’s work on Prophet<\/em>, Rain Like Hammers<\/em> was pushing in this direction, and Moonray<\/em> feels like the end point of a journey towards the realisation of an aesthetic. Graham has been pursuing a looseness that does something informed by some of the energy and style of Moebius, flavoured by Graham’s own distinct sensibility, which also moves into territory that has dispensed with some of the familiar punny landmarks you expect to be able to use to navigate Graham’s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I love the world building here. It brings to bear that same level of inventiveness that Prophet<\/em> pulled off; an inventiveness which most calls to mind the endless parade of ideas that Philip K. Dick used to toss over his shoulder like fuel to push a forward momentum towards some explosive conclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I am interested to see where this series terminates, and Graham has already been talking about a spin-off.
