In a kind of companion posting alongside Peter Blegvad\\’s Leviathan<\/i> comes Steven Appleby\\’s Small Birds Singing<\/i>. I used to clip both of them out fo the magazines and collect them avidly. Small Birds Singing<\/i> also used absurdism to explore humanity and it had some of the best characters of a small strip of it\\’s nature ever (you can quote me on that, not that you probably will but, hey!). In a few panels these cartoons sometimes managed to say something more profound and illuminative of the human conditions than a thousand of the talking heads on TV or in the self-same publications where I found these little animated curios.<\/p>\n

Appleby has this and some of his other strips archived on his site and he also books full of his humour available to buy.<\/p>\n
