The Wind Rises had looked to be the last thing that we were going to get from Hayao Miyazaki, after his retirement was announced.
He had been involved in the slightest of ways in the “planning” of his son, GoruMiyazaki’s film Earwig and the Witch, and then quiet. Until now.
The movie will be based on a 1937 novel by Genzaburo Yoshino called How Do You Live? The novel, which follows a 15-year-old boy in Tokyo, whose father has recently died, is reportedly Miyazaki’s favorite “childhood” book. A new Ghibli movie is always good news. Hopefully Miyazaki will continue this trend of retiring and unretiring until he no longer can.
