Ed Brubaker is one of those writer’s who really dig in under the surface of the subjects he writes on. You get to travel around inside the skulls of the characters he creates, and the nuances and foibles that make a character come to life and start breathing are something he really invests in. Of course, his plots are great, but if the plots weren’t driven by character development and action that you could really believe in then it wouldn’t be for much. This twist on the spy genre, with a female lead, imbued by the sensibilities of the genre that Brubaker absorbed through the research he talks of, makes this a really interesting prospect. And yes, i know it is out, but I haven’t read it, so I personally am looking forward to it.
