They still happen. people are still capable of commiting charitable acts, doing unselfish, altruistic things. That might seem like a stupid thing to say, but I think that a lot of people have forgotten it. Cynicism practised because it is trendy and makes you look cool will eventually become cynicism practised because it is your only mode of thought.
Your face is capable of more than one expression and your mind is the same — if you don’t use these things then they will get flabby. I was in a financial fix and some of my friends came to my rescue and to tell you how moved I was and how privileged I felt to know such generous people is hardly adequate thanks for them. I have thanked them. If they read this and the other tributes which I have been moved to write then that is something. They never did what they did for thanks, I feel confident in saying that, but I offer it anyway.
